Make a Lasting Difference: Join the PD Active Legacy Circle. Your legacy gift can help support the well-being of people with Parkinson’s in the East Bay—today and for years to come.
What Is the Legacy Circle?
The Legacy Circle recognizes and honors individuals who have included PD Active in their estate plans. Whether through a will, trust, retirement plan, or insurance policy, these gifts help secure PD Active’s future and expand our services to a growing community of people living with Parkinson’s and their loved ones.
Why Planned Giving Matters
Estate planning is an opportunity to reflect on what matters most to you. If you or your loved ones have experienced Parkinson’s, please consider including PD Active as a beneficiary of your will, trust, or retirement plan. Planned gifts ensure that PD Active remains a vibrant and accessible resource for years to come. They help us offer movement classes, support groups, and community events free of charge. So no one faces Parkinson’s alone.
PD Active is a community based non-profit that relies almost entirely on donations from our members for all our programming. Your estate gift ensures that PD Active can continue to make a difference in the lives of people with Parkinson’s and their loved ones in the Bay Area.

“We are so grateful for all the ways that PD Active has supported us on this journey with Parkinson’s. We want to make sure others can benefit in the future.”
— Karen Garrison & David Edelson
Ways to Give
Wills & Trusts
Including PD Active in your will or trust is easy. You simply designate that a certain percentage or amount of your estate be given to PD Active. Any amount or percentage will benefit PD Active; there is no required minimum.
Resources to Create Your Will
- Sample simple language:
“I hereby give to PD Active, a non-profit organization based in Berkeley CA, (Tax ID 26-3302461) [insert amount, percentage, or description of property], for its unrestricted charitable use or purpose.”
- Free and Minimal Cost Tools
For more complicated situations or if you have significant assets, we recommend that you consult an attorney.
Retirement Plans, Insurance Policies, Donor Advised Funds
No will? No problem! You can make PD Active a full, partial or contingent beneficiary of your retirement plan, insurance policy, or Donor Advised Fund. There is no minimum required amount, and you can change your beneficiaries if your situation changes.
Tax and Other Advantages
Planned giving is an opportunity to reflect upon what matters to you and to leave a legacy that will benefit your loved ones and cherished causes into the future. A planned gift may have estate tax or other tax benefits, while also allowing you to help sustain PD Active’s long-term future. We encourage you to consult with a tax or legal advisor for more information.
