PD Active is “By and For” our community. PD Active’s support groups are free. Funding for the support groups is dependent on your donations to PD Active. Please go to pdactive.org/donate and consider becoming a monthly donor.

General PD Support Group
Meeting every Thursday from 4:00pm – 5:15pm (PT) on the 1st, 3rd, 4th and 5th Thursdays of the month on Zoom and IN-PERSON on the 2nd Thursday from 1:00pm – 2:30pm at the North Oakland Senior Center- Activity Room- 5714 Martin Luther King Jr Way, Oakland, CA 94609– Entrance and ample free parking behind the building – enter on 58th St.
Description: These free weekly support group meetings are for people who have been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease or Parkinsonism. Mild/Recently Diagnosed Care Partners Support Group
Meeting 3rd Wednesday of the month from 3:30pm – 5:00pm (PT)
Description: This Care Partners Support group is for those who have partners with mild symptoms from Parkinson’s or for those who have been recently diagnosed. If you are interested in attending, please email mildrecentlydiagnosed@pdactive.org or call (510) 479-6119.
Moderate Care Partners Support Group
Meeting 2nd Wednesday of the month from 3:30pm – 5:00pm (PT) on Zoom and 4th Wednesday of the month IN-PERSON from 3:30pm – 5:00pm (PT)
Description: This Care Partners Support group addresses the needs of those partners who are caring for someone with moderate symptoms. All care partners are welcome. Self-facilitated. If you are interested in attending, please email moderate@pdactive.org or call (510) 479-6119.
Young Onset & Young at Heart PD Group
Meeting 2nd Wednesday of the month from 5:00pm – 6:00pm (PT)
Description: This group is for you if you were diagnosed with PD in your early fifties or younger, or if you are simply young at heart with PD. We traditionally have had fun, active outings (walks, hikes, Pickleball, bowling, etc), all in the East Bay. We now meet online via Zoom (and occasionally sneak out for a “socially-distanced” hike). Adult Children of People with Parkinson’s
Meeting 4th Monday of the month from 7:00pm – 8:30pm (PT)
Description: This group aims to create community for adult children of people with Parkinson’s Disease and provides a space to learn more about PD, discuss ways of supporting parents with PD, and offer support in navigating its challenges. Support Group in Spanish for those who have Parkinson’s and their families

Description: In this group we will break the isolation, share experiences, connect and learn in a safe space. Open to Spanish speaking people with Parkinson’s and their families. No cost. DBS (Deep Brain Stimulation) Support Group
Meeting the 1st Monday of the month from 11:00am – 12:00pm (PT)
Description: This group is a place for those who are considering DBS, have questions about DBS and those living with DBS to talk. Participants can ask questions and share experiences. For more information or to participate in a meeting, please email Jane Summer at janewitkin@me.com.
Women with PD Support Group (on Zoom with additional in-person support circles)
Meeting the 1st Tuesday of the month from 4:30pm – 6:00pm
Description: This group will provide a safe space for women at any stage of PD to share concerns, ask questions, get resources, and connect with other women. There will also be a process for those who want to participate in a small, in-person, women’s support circle. Email Womensgroup@pdactive.org if you are interested in attending. Open to anyone in the East Bay identifying as female.
Heart Circle
Meeting 1st Saturday of the month from 10:00am – 12:00pm (PT)
Description: The relief and sweetness of sharing our lives with PD. We join together to open our hearts and emotions, using guided meditation, discussion, and a chance to speak directly from the heart. Open to anyone with PD. PD Salon
Meeting 2nd Sunday of the month from 3:00pm – 5:00pm (PT)
Description: An opportunity for people with PD to share creative works that moves them. You can present poetry, prose, art, music, dance, improv, paintings, etc. by you or any artist. Or you can just observe. All are welcome. to attend and observe, but presentations by people with PD will have priority. Phil Miller, Gary Turchin, and Herb Heinz, are the PD Salon co-hosts. Art Therapy Group for Parkinson’s
Every other month, usually on the 2nd Saturday from 10:30am – 12:00pm at the Berkeley Methodist United Church- 1710 Carleton St, Berkeley, CA 94703.
Description: Connecting Through Art is a creative arts program that offers people with PD the space and ability to express feelings, emotions, and daily concerns through drawing and painting. This program provides a supportive and therapeutic environment that encourages participants’ reflection as they engage in art activities that helps strengthen fine motor movements. Co-sponsored by Stanford Parkinson’s Community Outreach, APDA, and PD Active. Open to any adult who has been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and their care partners.
