Albany RSB (Rock Steady Boxing)

Description: Rock Steady Boxing is the first program in the country dedicated to using boxing to condition for optimal agility, speed, muscular endurance, accuracy, hand-eye coordination, footwork, and overall strength to defend against the opponent — Parkinson’s. Coach Daniel Burkhardt teaches exercises varying in purpose and form that share one common trait: they are rigorous and intended to extend the capabilities of the participant.

Dance for PD®

Classes combine elements of modern dance, ballet, social dancing & improvisation to create an enjoyable, stimulating non-pressured artistic experience. Presented in association with the Mark Morris Dance Group. Open to all; no dance experience is necessary. Classes via Zoom.

Mindfulness Meditation- ABC Program

Lila Heller will lead a mindfulness meditation session which will serve as a fitting session after Pilates. This meditation class can also be taken without Pilates. If you have already registered for Pilates, you don’t need to register for this mindfulness meditation. You can use the same information as you did for the Pilates class. If you did not register for Pilates, register for Mindfulness Meditation at this link. PWR!Moves®

Tuesdays from 11 am-12 pm

Description: PWR!Moves is a progressive, neuroplasticity-based aerobic exercise developed to push back against the main PD symptoms such as small and slow movements, stooped posture, balance problems, gait changes. We start slow with mindful movement, then elevate our heart rate with 30 min of aerobic exercise working on big steps, coordination, balance. Description: Yoga is one of the most beneficial complementary therapies for Parkinson’s disease, helping to increase flexibility; improve posture; loosen tight muscles; build (or rebuild) confidence; and, through these benefits, enhance the quality of life. Pamela Perry and Aileen Kim will alternate teaching the class; they have both been long-term volunteers for PD Active’s Yoga for PD classes. This class is not just for people with Parkinson’s. Friends, family, caregivers, and anyone else are welcome! Suggested donation $10-$15. No one turned away for lack of funds.  This class is being offered via Zoom.
